Job purpose :
The Specialist, Learning & Development develops and delivers strategic initiatives and programming to build critical capabilities, competencies, and culture in alignment with organizational strategy, with a focus on the areas of talent management, career development, performance management, learning, and leadership development.
The Specialist, Learning & Development helps to create and enables the achievement of the People & Culture (P&C) plan and vision.
Duties and responsibilities :
Work with key stakeholders to develop and execute on plans to grow capabilities and competencies in alignment with organizational and internal clients.
Own the design, delivery, and ongoing oversight of talent management programming, career development, performance management, learning, and leadership development.
Partner with P&C team and leadership to execute programs.Routinely ensure that programs meet the needs of organizational objectives and cultural aspirations.
Champion of the ongoing performance management process, methodology, and tool.Setting timelines, coordinating communications, and continuously improving utilization and functionality of performance management tool.
Diagnose current organizational climate and culture, assess organizational learning and development needs (using a variety of tools including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and or / consultation with leaders, strategic partners, and staff at all levels), and articulate recommendations for achieving strategic results considering best practices and research.
Develop project plans and timelines to support organizational development efforts and assist in the smooth and thorough execution of projects.
Deliver work in alignment with plans.
Develop communications and change strategy for owned initiatives and partner with key stakeholders on implementation where needed.
Coordinate with and champion external vendor relationships as required.
Provide insight, recommendations, and oversight of the organization’s learning and development budget.
Provide consultation and guidance to key stakeholders and subject matter experts in designing and delivering internal training programming.
Design and develop training materials such as : training handouts, workbooks, facilitator guides, and other materials as needed.
Look outward for best practices and stay informed on relevant technological and organizational development innovations and their relevance to the organization’s work.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills :
5-7 years of experience in a Learning and Development or similar role.
Proven understanding and application of adult learning principles, strong training / presentation / facilitation skills, with experience in the design and delivery of interactive training session and experiential learning programs.
Working knowledge of Agile methodology and principles.
Strong understanding of diversity & inclusion principles including accommodation of learning methods and delivery.
Strong understanding of change management principles and the ability to support stakeholders in effective application.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work through ambiguity and challenges with resilience and clarity.
Critical thinking skills, ability to diagnose organizational climate, analyze data and come up with applicable recommendations to address needs.
Strong strategic thinking skills, and the ability to align strategies for program design and delivery in alignment with broader organizational goals.
Solid project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing quality with on-time delivery.
Self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in MS Office and eLearning software such as Adobe Captivate.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR Management and / or Adult Learning.
Professional Organization Development and Trainer with certifications in key development tools (such as TKI, MBTI, Kolbe, EQ);
Leadership Development tools (such as SSLI, Multipliers, 360) and Change Management (such as Prosci), or other renowned products and tools.
