Reporting to the Dean, School of Foundational Learning, the incumbent will provide academic and administrative leadership to faculty, staff, and students in the School to promote excellence in teaching and learning and to foster a culture of scholarly activity.

The Associate Dean will contribute to the College’s Open Doors Open Minds vision, the Academic and Research Plan, and champion our innovative and entrepreneurial approach to excellence in teaching and learning at Bow Valley College.

This role also includes planning, developing and ongoing review of programs and services, ensuring operational effectiveness and efficiency in delivery, excellent financial management, and learner satisfaction.

Maintaining a high level of performance through effective recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating and training of faculty and staff within the school is a key function of the Associate Dean.

This role works closely with the Dean, Program Chairs, faculty and support staff in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programs / courses.

The AD leads new program / course development and revenue generation in the school and may act on behalf of the Dean as required.

Together with the Dean, the AD provides leadership and direction with partnerships and collaborative initiatives that involve the community, professional associations, agencies, and other post-

secondary institutions. The Associate Dean contributes to governance processes, to accreditation readiness, and to assessment initiatives.

Job Requirements Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of master’s degree in related field.
  • Five years experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably with experience both in teaching and academic leadership;
  • experience in the area of applied research would be considered an asset.

  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
  • Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Police Information Check.
