We have hundreds of deployed Ubuntu workstations that need ongoing care. We have a large variety of Linux servers, a growing Xen cloud and a GPU cluster that are used for both research and teaching.

The Computer Systems Administrator manages the acquisition and implementation of hardware and software systems, and multiple servers and workstations for instructional, research, and administration use.
The incumbent of the position installs, configures and troubleshoots network, system, and application software and hardware.
maintains software for networked systems; and monitors and manages databases, backups, logs, and journals.
At this time most of the staff are working from home during the Covid-19 workplace restrictions. The successful applicant will be expected to have a functional, safe home office space and Internet access.
It is expected that initially most work will be done from home, but with some work on campus. As the Covid-19 situation progresses this may shift to mostly on campus work.
Primarily on campus work will be at our Burnaby campus, but some may occur on the Surrey campus.
