    Reporting to the Manager, Data Centers and Microsoft Platforms, and receiving day-to-day direction from the Team Lead of Data Center Operations (DCOPs), the Senior Systems Administrator is the senior resource responsible for providing the operational, planning and technical delivery of Data Center Operations Services to Island Health.

    These services primarily include (but are not limited to) analysis, development and implementation of virtualization technologies, Windows operating systems, MS Clustering, SAN administration, performance monitoring, System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Data Center Operations management, asset management, and DCIM systems management.

    The Senior Systems Administrator provides the senior skills required for the management and day-to-day operational and technical delivery and support of Island Health s Data Center Operations services to the Data Center Operations team, IMIT Service Desks, Voice Network Services, Unified Communications Services, Active Directory Services, Network Storage Services, Project Management Office and Data Network Services.

    Their role is to provide analysis, development, implementation, and maintenance of Data Center Operations related services, as well as supporting any layered products, software, and hardware following strict adherence to Island Health s ITIL-based Change Management and Service Desk Incident Management policies and processes.

    This person will also be responsible to provide leadership to the day to day operations team by providing operational supervision and technical oversight to other members within the Data Center Operations team.

    This role will be expected to have the technical skills necessary to manage and maintain the operational environment of the Data Center Operations services and will also be a key resource on behalf of new initiatives such as upgrades and enhancements to the Data Center Operations services, as well as challenging new projects and technologies.

    Provides leadership skills necessary to supervise and oversee the work direction and task assignments within the operations team.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education, Training And Experience

    Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, four (4) years' recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to write programs in a variety of programming languages.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment (such as the Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 O / S platforms, Microsoft MS Office, HP Service Desk, Blackberry).
  • Additional information for applicants This position will be focussing primarily on installing, supporting and managing Vmware Vsphere 6.

    0, 6.5, 6.7 and associated Virtual tools. Experience in managing all aspects of a virtual farm including ESX Hosts, vCenter, VM, vMotion, storage, networking and rules would be an preferred.

    Experience with the following would be preferred :

  • Performing daily monitoring of tasks and events, backups, patch and update management on production servers
  • Planning and implementing fault tolerance solutions and strategies
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting Vmware ESX and Virtual Center Environments Requisition CA Facilities Subsector Affiliation / Union HEU
