This is an exciting time to join the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (formerly the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch) as we continue to transform the provincial approach to regulating liquor and implement the provincial licensing of non-

medical cannabis private retail stores in anticipation of the October 17th, 2018 federal legalization of the sale of non-medical cannabis.

With staff in Victoria, Surrey, Vancouver and regional offices across the province, the Branch works to protect public safety and to minimize the health and social harms of alcohol and non-

medical cannabis use by promoting safe establishments.

The Branch issues licences in B.C. for making and selling liquor and will soon issue licences for non-medical cannabis private retail sales.

The Branch currently supervises 10,000+ licensees, including pubs, bars, lounges, stadiums, nightclubs and restaurants, liquor stores, breweries, distilleries, wineries, and UBrews / UVins.

In addition, the Branch regulates almost 30,000 Special Event Permit events, such as concerts and weddings each year.

The Branch is comprised of three divisions : Program and Strategic Services Division (Management Services, Policy and Legislation, Communications and Stakeholder Relations, and Business Transformation), Licensing Division (Licensing and Local Government Liaison) and the Compliance and Enforcement Division (both Regional and HQ).

This position is responsible for managing medium-term projects or several smaller scope projects with significant internal impact to the business.

Accountable for defining and controlling all project activities to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget and specified quality, in accordance with project management standards, applying Agile or waterfall methodologies.

Job Requirements :

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below :

  • A Degree in business administration, public administration, or other related field, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience managing projects and / or project components.
  • Experience in directing the work of contracted and staff resources.

  • Agile project management training and experience.
  • Experience using JIRA to document and track project progress.
  • Experience in IM / IT planning and development.
  • Experience in business requirements gathering.
  • Experience in facilitating process mapping or service design workshops.
