About the Role Are you passionate about working with reinsurance Life and Health Claims? We are looking for self-motivated claims specialist with a good knowledge of the fundamentals of claims adjudication in the Canadian critical illness market to join our Life and Health Claims team in Canada.

You will be adjudicating Canadian and English Caribbean Critical Illness and Life claims and will work closely with administrators, underwriters and client managers.

You will be : Familiar with industry practice and have an ability to sensitively communicate any deviations to a client and provide insight when necessary Knowledgeable of reinsurance treaties in order to be able to identify issues with client adherence to treaty terms and advise and provide insights to swiss Re client managers on technical issues during treaty negotiations Building positive relationships with key individuals in the claims departments of Swiss Re's clients and conducting client onsite reviews Preparing and delivering training, workshops or other presentations Keeping up-

  • to-date on emerging issues that may affect the insurance / reinsurance marketplace at large and further developing market and client knowledge Assessing contract wording in collaboration with contracts specialists and client managers About You Educational background Bachelor's degree or equivalent Professional experience Ideally, 5 years critical illness claims experience in a reinsurance / insurance environment or this role is ideal for a junior underwriter looking to move into a claims role Fluent written and spoken English communication skills Ability to read French is critical;
  • fluent bilingualism a plus Solid interpersonal skills for both internal and external clients, colleagues and peers Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to accurately interpret and apply treaty language to ensure treaty compliance Possess a strong knowledge of computer fundamentals.

    You take full advantage of computer programs and office tools to improve productivity (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Access, Excel, BOXI).

    Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities Able to make quick decisions with ability to exercise judgment in applying 80-

    20 rule Strong negotiation skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products and features About the Team The Life and Claims team in Canada consists of 5 people including an administrator, experts and a manager.

    The team is responsible for supporting client cross-functional teams, ensuring a high quality of claim adjudication and providing valuable support to our clients.

    The team reviews client contracts, requests for reinsurance proposals and works with Client Markets, Underwriting, Medical Directors and Administration to ensure that Swiss Re's technical capabilities and value added services are leveraged The Company is an equal opportunity employer.
