Position at Dynacare
Dynacare is looking for Clinical Laboratory Assistants to join our Genetics team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a full time, permanent position, initially dedicated to COVID-19 diagnostic testing.
Genetics and Microbiology operate on a 24-hour schedule, Sunday thru Saturday. Hours of work are 75 hrs. bi-weekly. Shifts and working hours may vary according to departmental needs.
Ensures that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing
Follows established protocol(s) for the handling of unsuitable samples
Operates and troubleshoots complex instruments following department procedures
Performs processing of samples in a timely manner as per departmental guidelines
Ensures that all abnormal, critical and STATS are processed as outlined in the department guidelines. May be required to follow-up on missing samples
Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained
Ensures specimen & technical issues are appropriately communicated for support
Ensures all client inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner
Other duties as assigned
Must have :
Completion of secondary-school level education and a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program
Experience with and comfort in using a manual pipette, for high volume pipetting
Experience providing exceptional, professional customer focused service in a demanding and frequently changing environment
Demonstrated ability to self-manage, prioritize and collaborate in a team-oriented, high volume, time-sensitive environment
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to apply that knowledge in troubleshooting issues and providing recommendations for solutions
Monitors and maintains laboratory supplies
Nice to have :
Theoretical knowledge & / or practical technical skills for molecular microbiology or molecular genetics (e.g. DNA / RNA extraction and PCR techniques)
