Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Information Technology, the Manager has the overall responsibility for the management of Finance function including financial reporting, planning and analysis, funding and related management reporting.

He / she will work closely with the Manager, Finance as well as collaborate with management and staff in other supporting departments, including Decision Support, Information Technology and Clinical Informatics to ensure smooth delivery of services to our internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications Required and Preferred

  • Undergraduate degree, B.A., B. Comm. or Business Administration
  • Completion of one of the following professional designations CPA CA, CPA CMA, CPA CGA or recognized equivalent
  • Five (5) years related progressive experience in a medium size organization, including two (2) years managing in a hospital environment
  • Masters of Business Administration, an asset
  • Maintains current knowledge of accounting principles, methodology and standards
  • Experience with public sector accounting
  • Excellent knowledge of MIS Standards, Ontario Healthcare Reporting System, Ontario Cost Distribution Methodology, Ontario Case Costing, Ontario Patient-Based Funding, and other funding policies
  • Experience in healthcare environment, required
  • Experience in an accounting or auditing environment with exposure to financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Experience with information technology control processes and systems
  • Conversant in computer-based systems for budgeting and management reporting
  • Experience with the development of complex financial models
  • Experience with activity, workflow and organizational analysis for business / process re-engineering or efficiency improvements
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS products
  • Experience in MEDITECH HCIS
  • Experience in Business Intelligence is preferred (Microsoft Power BI)
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills ability to interact with all levels of staff across the organization
  • Proven innovation and improvements within healthcare which impacted a significant group of stakeholders
  • Ability to tie financial and statistical data for comprehensive and fulsome commentary for financial and management reporting
  • Ability to handle large amounts of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem recognition and complex problem-solving skills
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to form and defend independent judgments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments with conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and embrace changes
  • Proven good attendance and performance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard
