Your opportunity :

The UTM Career Centre is a student-focused service whose mission is to help students develop career management skills that they can use throughout their life.

The staff operate as a team, each contributing via their specific role and by supporting others in Centre goals. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing an employer outreach strategy with the goal of developing work placements for students and recent UTM graduates.

The Coordinator will liaise with the career development staff to be knowledgeable regarding the preparatory programming and how it assists the recent graduates to be better prepared for the labour market.

The Coordinator will participate in the assessment and preparation of the recent graduates and students as needed. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing marketing strategies to identify and recruit potential external partners and implements these strategies.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Developing and revising business methods that support employment services activities and objectives
  • Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development
  • Developing communications plans to support departmental objectives
  • Developing content for marketing and / or promotional materials
  • Analyzing job descriptions and recommending changes to employer
  • Gathering information on student performance from employers
  • Generating reports
  • Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years in a higher education business development or cooperative / experiential education role.
  • Experience growing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide variety stakeholders.
  • Experience forging new partnerships.
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of high profile, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience managing a contact database.
  • Experience researching labour market trends and resources.
  • Experience developing an employer outreach strategy and effectiveness measures; delivering services to employers and / or students in a university Career Centre.
  • Experience planning and implementing projects.
  • Highly developed communication skills (oral and written), as well as public speaking and presentation skills; strong marketing and sales skills.
  • Excellent relationship management and cross-cultural fluency skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and priorities with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent judgment, tact discretion, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to positively represent UTM in the community and to all members of the UofT community.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet applications.
