Supply Chain Manager

Our esteemed client within the Thompson-Nicola region has retained Excel Personnel Inc. to assist with their hiring requirement of a Supply Chain Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department. They will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilisation, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising.

Duties :

Negotiate with preferred suppliers to procure, at the appropriate time and at the least cost, all the material resources required to achieve and support manufacturing activities.

In addition to ensuring the availability of material resources, the incumbent also ensures the availability, at the right time and at the lowest cost, of replacement parts required by users of the client's products.

  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
  • Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
  • Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for production and client needs.
  • Attend managers' meetings.
  • Train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all parts department staff.
  • Conduct meetings with parts department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation.
  • Maintain level of inventory with inputs from forecasting & historical demand
  • Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty, and the cost of doing business.
  • Strategies for costs improvement.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
  • Establish selling prices of replacement parts.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (kpi)
  • Responsibilities :

    Ensure the availability of all material resources, at the right time and at the lowest cost, to meet the needs of factories, branches and other customers.

  • Conduct, if necessary, a search to identify suppliers who will be able to supply the client, client branches and other customers with the required material resources;
  • Negotiate and communicate to those concerned the agreements concluded at national level with the preferred supplier (s);
  • Follow up to ensure compliance with the negotiated agreements, as well as the guidelines communicated by the people concerned;
  • Follow up to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where necessary;
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective availability of replacement parts required by users of our client’s products.

  • Establish inventory levels to be maintained for each type of replacement part based on historical and projected needs data;
  • Conduct, as needed, research to identify suppliers who will be able to supply the plant, branch parts;
  • Conduct, if necessary, research to identify suppliers who will be able to supply the plant, branch and other customers with replacement (non-captive) parts;
  • Negotiate and communicate to the concerned persons the agreements concluded at national level with the preferred supplier (s) of spare parts (captive and non-captive);
  • Follow up to ensure that purchases are made according to plan and conditions;
  • Follow up to ensure compliance with the negotiated agreements, as well as the guidelines communicated by the people concerned;
  • Follow up to ensure inventory levels are in line with previously established sales / inventory ratios;
  • Follow up, as needed, to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken;
  • Provide the coaching and support required to achieve the expected performance of his team members.

  • Establish, in conjunction with team members, areas of performance, levels of authority, and performance goals and expectations;
  • Track activities and tasks performed by team members;
  • Evaluate the performance of team members;
  • Identify areas for improvement and development as well as the measures required to close the identified gaps;
  • Deal with conflicts within the team as needed;
  • Requirements :

  • Strong and pro-active communication skills
  • Ten years in a similar management experience (manufacturing)
  • Familiar with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with concepts of ABC classes.
  • Quick learner, analytical mind and focused.
  • Preferred : college or university education in production & planning / planning / chain / engineering
