This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future casual vacancies. A qualified group of candidates will be identified.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year.

When you apply, please ensure you include the following documentation for your application to be considered :

  • A current Typing Test 50 wpm or greater completed within past 24 months from a recognized institution;
  • Medical Terminology & / or Medical Office Assistant & / or Emergency Operator Certificate;
  • Your Resume;
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).
  • Certificates / Diplomas / Transcripts must be from accredited Colleges / Universities.
  • This position facilitates patient referrals and transports. Duties include :

  • Receiving transport requests from a variety of sources in a call centre format,
  • Identifying available transportation options and in collaboration with the Transport Coordinator;
  • Assisting in the co-ordination of patient transfers, enters patient information into computerized database to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure patient / family needs are met above all other concerns;
  • Arranging conferences between the health care professionals involved in the referral and transport of patients between facilities;
  • Producing various reports and provides clerical support.
  • Hours of work : Rotating Days : 07 : 00 to 15 : 00, 08 : 00 to 16 : 00, 09 : 00 to 17 : 00, 10 : 30 to 18 : 00, 10 : 00 to 14 : 00.

    This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

    Qualifications

    Education, Training and Experience :

  • Grade 12,
  • Medical Terminology course, a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program and / or an Emergency Operator course.
  • Two year’s recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Completion of a Typing Test 50 wpm or greater, dated within the past 24 months and must be issued from a valid institution only.

    Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively, including the ability to both lead and participate as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work in a rapid paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including demonstrated proficiency in relevant computer applications (ie : Meditech, Order Entry, Word, Excel, Power Point).
