Senior Pension Analyst

Defined Benefits Pension Administration

Summary :

Morneau Shepell can provide clarity among plan options andtake the strain out of communications between members,administrators and fund managers.

Our Ariel administration systemis a robust recordkeeping platform that supports membershipdatabase updates, and provides electronic data interfaces,calculations and transactions.

Our Senior Analyst worksin a team and is responsible for administering pension plans forassigned clients and providing analytical and administrationsupport to both clients and the team

Responsibilities :

  • Receives and responds to plan enquires and requests fromclients
  • Calculates and processes timely payment oftermination, retirement and death benefits for medium sized plansand reviews such for simple plans
  • Supports therelationship between clients and other members of consultingteam
  • Coordinates information flow between clients andtrustees
  • Reconciles plan assets and planmemberships
  • Trains new analysts on systems andprocedures
  • Prepares year-end annual pensionstatements
  • Prepares membership and asset data foractuarial valuations
  • Applies and interprets pensionbenefit calculations in accordance with routine plan provisions andlegislative requirements
  • Works with pensiondatabases
  • Attends internal training sessions to buildknowledge of industry topics and trends
  • Participates inclient meetings and presentations
  • Assists with specialprojects, as required
  • Succeeding as a Senior PensionAnalyst will require the following core qualifications andskills :

  • Three tofive years of Defined Benefit pension administration experience(completed complex retirement, termination, death and marriagebreakdown calculations manually)
  • Post-secondary education (preferably in Mathematics, Statistics,Actuarial Science) or completed courses related to PensionAdministration
  • Advance knowledge of Defined Benefitpension plans and provincial pension and tax legislation
  • Experience reviewing pension calculations and membertransactions
  • Ability to lead projects by takingownership and being accountable for assigned tasks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Exceptional client service focus with strong professionalacumen
