The IT Business Solutions Architect & Business Partner is the strategic liaison between IT and the business, analyzing business stakeholder needs and opportunities, and translating them into business and technical requirements.
This position must understand business strategies and goals, and develop necessary designs and plans to implement required business solutions.
Proactively listen to business pain points and challenges, and propose business process optimization and technology solutions to address.
Ensures that IT is focused on the highest priority technology initiatives to advance the business strategy and critical business goals.
This individual must intimately understand the business strategy, business model(s), business processes, how the business unit makes money, external customer experiences, and more.
The IT Business Solutions Architect & Business Partner proactively proposes What If business scenarios, painting pictures of improved future states and the art of the possible.
Partner with business leadership in writing business cases for technology investments and ensuring that the anticipated business value is realized.
Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure interoperability aimed at enabling end-to-end generate demand to fulfill demand business processes.
Overall responsibility for serving as the strategic interface between services business units and IT for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management.
Understand the future state strategic needs and current state capabilities of the services businesses across AFL, and determine how to close the gaps adopting a people, process and technology approach.
Serve as the trusted advisor and internal business consultant to business leadership in determining business solutions required to achieve business goals and objectives.
Recommend strategies to optimize / standardize / automate business processes to enable improved business / operational execution, an improved external customer experience, and increased end user productivity in the achievement of business goals.
Design / propose a modernized, simplified and integrated application and information architecture for AFL Services Business (a single modernized and consolidated technology platform that is aligned with the AFL Global Technology landscape) in collaboration with the Director of Enterprise Architecture & Integration as well as the VP of Information Technology.
Translate business needs into integrated business and technology investment roadmaps and collaborate with business leadership in the development of sound and compelling business cases.
Collaborate with Business Process Owners (BPOs), Super Users (SUs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the develop use cases and detailed business requirements as an input for planned IT initiatives.
Facilitate workshops to document Current State (As Is) and Future State (To Be) business process flows in the pursuit of profitable and sustainable growth.
Creates and updates business process documentation in collaboration with BPOs and SUs, including work flows, RACI charts, procedures and work instructions.
Work with IT Shared Services and 3rd party technology providers to resolve issues with Network Services software applications.
Research and evaluate industry trends, best practices, new technologies, and improvements or new releases to our current installed base.
Collaborate closely with IT Global Shared Services and AFL ePMO to plan and implement solutions.
Collaborate with Business Process Owners (BPOs) and Super Users to design and deploy business process optimizations and information technology solutions.

Minimum of 7 years’ work experience in business solution architecting for a global services company (engineering / construction, field installation and project management);
and 5 years’ experience as a business systems analyst.
Proven experience in implementing on premise, cloud-based and mobile-enable technology; including but not limited to ERP, Field Service Management, CRM, PPM and HRIS business systems.
Proven experience in data management : master data, data warehousing, data governance, data analytics and reporting. Experience with system design and development starting from business requirements analysis through implementation and support.
Superior analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
Proven project management and change management experience.
