Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Junior Geochemist in the Mine Water and Environment group, based in our Vancouver office.

The selected candidate will support geochemistry-related projects that typically involve mine permitting, baseline environmental studies, operational support, and reclamation / remediation.

An overview of your role will include :

  • Providing support for geochemical projects, specifically in mining environments
  • Conducting geochemical characterization studies (soil, mine wastes, and ore), as well as associated groundwater and surface water sampling and other environmental investigations
  • Collecting, managing, and analyzing geochemical data
  • Water quality and geochemical modelling
  • Preparing reports
  • Demonstrating a "Safety-First" focus
  • Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder's reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values
  • You will have a background in :

  • Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field, ideally with a strong quantitative background
  • 1 to 3 years applied work experience
  • Strong understanding of geology and chemistry, with additional academic knowledge related to surface water and groundwater interactions, surface water hydrology, water treatment, and / or physical and chemical hydrogeology.
  • Strong data manipulation abilities including experience with data management tools (i.e., Excel, EQuIS, Access, Python, R)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; high fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international project locations.
  • The selected candidate will demonstrate a passion for geochemistry and geology, possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills and be committed to producing technically excellent work in a client-driven environment.

    Preferred :

  • Graduate degree in geochemistry
  • Experience with industry-standard geochemical software such as PHREEQC and Geochemist's Workbench, and modelling software (e.g., GoldSim)
