As an Estimator, you will work closely with our clients and provide a range of pre-construction services throughout the design and estimate phase.
The Estimator is knowledgeable in different types of construction, specifically Mass Timber and is able to analyze items from multiple perspectives.
You will work within the pre-construction department, where teamwork is at the forefront.
Estimator Responsibilities :
Review construction documents to develop an understanding of scope requirements, and prepare the compliant budget and tender proposals.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for mass timber, lumber, steel connectors, and fasteners.
Solicit supply pricing, and develop a solid understanding of various products available in the market.
Quantify labour requirements for prefabrication and installation.
Develop a preliminary construction schedule using labour calculations.
Quantify General Construction requirements such as equipment rental.
Develop high-level budgets using preliminary design documents.
Attend design-assist meetings and provide feedback to improve the design or constructability of mass timber projects.
Ability to understand construction details.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Review contracts to ensure the scope of work match proposals.
Attend tender award meetings and contribute to the successful award of contracts.
Chair handover meetings between Estimating department and Operations.
Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and estimate takeoff software such as Onscreen Takeoff or Bluebeam.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Attention to detail
Estimating or building technology education or background, preferably in wood frame
Carpentry experience is a plus
Experience using Onscreen Takeoff or Bluebeam is a plus
Experience or understanding of construction contract language is a plus
