    The Director of Project Management (DPM) oversees the Program Management Office (PMO) managing a portfolio of projects and programs to meet organization goals and requirements.

    The Director of Project Management develops and implements PMO processes, policies, directs project management staff and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs through the establishment of the PMO.

    Goals :

  • Establish a Project Management structure (organizational, processes, tools, training) Business Units : Automation, Systems, Storage & Racking
  • Institute a scalable, sustainable funding model for the project management function
  • Leverage economies of effort and repetition, developing consistent templates and approaches to project management from inception to completion, including lessons learned and cross-
  • functional support and coverage

  • Establish an appropriate Project Portfolio insuring governance, project progress, delivery, cost and profitability tracking
  • Establish best practices, ongoing coaching and mentoring that can be leveraged across all lines of business
  • Create a training program for the continuous develop of the project management team
  • Key Activities :

  • Oversee the establishment of the PMO and the objectives listed above
  • Determine, define and classify projects , and the approach to delivering on the requirements
  • Transition current project management resources to the new structure and align all business units
  • Serve as project manager for designated periodic and significant projects
  • Lead project teams in achieving project success; facilitating problem solving efforts to reduce defects, improve customer satisfaction, manage end user impact, reduce cost and increase project efficiency.
  • Ensure project processes are applied consistently, including project charter, project plans, issue and risk management, financial management, resourcing, and procurement management.
  • Report on all department KPIs, and run the PMO Steering Committee regular reviews
  • Lead the collaboration of broad cross-functional teams and departments towards the achievement of all project objectives
  • Support departmental leads in creating comprehensive project documentation and updates to relevant knowledge bases; analyze lessons learned and share with other key stakeholders and project owners
  • Assist area managers to balance multiple projects and competing priorities within tight deadlines
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs, evaluate the progress of individual projects and make recommendations as necessary
  • Standardize project planning and management tools and identifying best practices, sharing cross functionally.
  • Stay abreast of the status of all projects and provide periodic status reports (on issues / risk reassessment / achievements) to stakeholders
  • Status Reporting : Reporting project status, including accurate financial information, using defined tools and processes
  • Financial Reporting : Insuring project costs (including internal labor) are accurately reported and tracked against project budget
