Position Overview

We are seeking entrepreneurial leaders who treat each project as if they are running a business; providing outstanding customer service and delivering a project that is profitable and safe.

The Project Manager is responsible for all aspect of the project over its entire lifespan (plan, execute, monitor and finalize) according to deadlines and approved budget.

This individual identifies and gathers the stakeholders and resources required to build the project team and follows project management best practices to define the project scope, budget and schedule as well as identifies project risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Owning the success, safety, quality and profitability of a project.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and project team responsibilities to accomplish project objectives.
  • Effectively leads the project team by coordinating all internal stakeholder expectations through the life of the project.
  • Also includes preparing the Tender Process, Budgets, Estimates, Construction Schedules, progress and monthly reports etc.

  • Take part in pre-construction activities, including oversight of estimating and proposal development
  • Ensure projects are executed following contracts, drawings and specifications.
  • Responsible for continual cost control, management and forecasting of projects.
  • Review and approval of required project administration and documentation.
  • Manage project contract agreements to ensure they are reviewed, processed and executed.
  • Prepare and collect progress billings and holdback receivables promptly.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop and lead project coordinators and junior project managers.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the client before, during and after the project.
  • Negotiate contracts, change management and claims.
  • Provide proactive leadership in safety by ensuring all company, client and legislated Safety policies and procedures are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure all necessary project safety provisions and procedures are implemented on each project.
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements

    The successful candidate will have :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or related Field
  • Formal training or certification in Project Management
  • 10+ years of civil construction and demolition experience with EPCM background is considered an asset
  • Experience in an EPCM environment support the Fort McMurray oilsands industry is an asset
  • Must understand scheduling and planning concepts, including the ability to interpret plans and drawings.
  • Capable of managing multiple small / medium size projects with support from other team members when required
  • Experience in managing multi-million dollar projects is required
  • Proficient in the use of project management software (MS Project, Excel, etc.).
  • Project Management experience related to oil & gas construction, and demolition projects
  • Professional experience in managing to prove project management best practices.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
  • The ability to work collaboratively and communicate with varied stakeholders and groups.
  • Possesses a solid track record of building and maintaining strong working relationships both internally and externally;
  • where employees are engaged and motivated.

  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making abilities and leadership skills.
  • Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate results of performance.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.

    Required

    Associates or better.

    Preferred

    5-10 years : Formal training or certification in Project Management

    Less than 10 years : EPCM environment supporting the Fort McMurray oilsands industry is an asset

    Less than 10 years : Civil construction and demolition experience with EPCM background is considered an asset
