Job Summary

The US Life Liability Modeling team is responsible for developing and implementing structural and non-structural assumption and model design changes into the valuation models.

This role involves being the Model Lead and accountable for one of four US Life models. This position will also work with various teams across the company, such as IFRS and NAIC Valuation, Experience Analysis and In force Management departments, to provide knowledge and expertise on model calculations, understand model change requests and make model specific recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for model, including knowledge and communication of model assumptions and calculations; adhering to valuation model change management protocols and model design best practices
  • Manage junior modelers to perform research and development of model changes and create model change specifications
  • Work with actuaries across IFRS and NAIC Valuation, Pricing, Modeling, Experience Analysis and In force Management departments to understand data change requests and help prioritize the most important and time-
  • sensitive needs of the collective group of stakeholders

  • Support valuation teams to review model changes, including investigating and explaining anomalies in unexpected results and other analysis to understand the results
  • Work with Production team to coordinate change management cycles
  • Provide support to Data team, such as data file integrity checks, researching data quality issues
  • Provide support to internal and external audit partners and model vetting
  • Education & Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance products, especially UL / VUL products
  • Extensive experience with GGY AXIS valuation software and modeling preferred
