We are looking to hire a National Contract Logistics Automation Manager for our Contract Logistics division based in Toronto.
This role provides oversight and management to all automation implementation and post-go live life-cycle management of our projects within Canada.
Manage automation portfolio within the region. This includes active coordination, participation, and maintenance of the pipeline for automation projects in all stages of realisation, including after GO LIVE.
Challenge technical design to be on par with automation integrators whom Kuehne+Nagel does business with.
Operate as a direct interface to automation suppliers within Canada, working with the Regional and Global teams in respect to strategic partnerships.
Provide support and participation on automation efforts within Canada. This includes oversight on the items above, but also filling in for team members wherein it is important to business continuity.
Handle regular synchronization with Regional and National teams to ensure business continuity. This includes participation in the Global Automation Council meetings .
Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports following annual performance policies.
Team recruitment, management, and coaching to meet all key business objectives.
Resource allocation and scheduling of Automation personnel in accordance to project requirements.
Ownership and management of cost centre budget for Automation within the assigned country
PTO, Expense, and Travel approvals where required for all team members within cost centre.
Resource allocation levels relative to requirements.

Your Skills and Experiences
BS degree in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, and / or practical experience in the field of automation controls or software engineering.
5+ years' experience implementing automated warehouses involving conveyors, AMRs, AGVs, ASRS.
10+ years' experience implementing automated warehouses in a technical and managerial function.
PMP Certification, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
Willingness to travel for work.
Experience managing vendor deliverables for complex systems.
Familiarity and ability to excel in a matrix organization.
Experience with the implementation of automated material handling and logistics systems.
Experience with information systems and engineering theory.
Experience with the project life cycle for automated material handling systems.
Sound application knowledge of automated material handling equipment such as AS / RS, pallet and case conveyors, sorters, AGV's, monorails, etc.
Analytical skills with Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and / or use of Minitab for the purposes of system diagnostics and continuous improvement.
Generally strong skills in Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions), and Visio.
Experience being a front-facing representation for the customer as well as company representation for internal meetings as needed.
3PL contract logistics experience preferred.
CAD drawing software experience preferred.
Experience working with simulation technologies such as AutoMOD, Demo3D, Arena, Simul8, etc
