WeirFoulds LLP is looking for an energetic IT Operations Manager to manage the day to day operations of IT as well as provide infrastructure technical expertise.

Beyond the technical requirements, we need a manager who will influence the overall strategy and drive for digital transformation, while establishing goals and directing the activities of the team to optimize, implement, maintain and support technology for the Firm.

Reporting to the Director of IT, the IT Operations Manager will manage the Helpdesk, which includes incident management, resource management and escalations, both during normal helpdesk hours (M-F 8AM-6PM) and / or after hours.

In addition, the role will be required to coordinate and improve activities related to infrastructure operations and will work in close collaboration with the 5 members of the IT team.

Prior work experience within a law firm or professional services environment would be considered an asset, but not mandatory.

Required Qualifications & Education

  • Preferable to have a university degree in information technology or computer science or very strong practical experience in IT.
  • Preferable to have ITIL Foundation certification or working towards achieving it.
  • Prior experience in managing and leading an IT Operations team for at least 2 years.
  • Technical Skills and Experience

  • Well rounded experience with Windows Server technologies (Windows Server 2012 and newer, Active Directory, Windows 10 clients);
  • good understanding of SQL Server database administration.

  • Experience with Office 365 / Exchange 365. Advantageous to have a understanding of different cloud models and techniques in dealing with vendors.
  • Practical understanding and experience with remote access technologies like Citrix and VPN.
  • Good practical knowledge of server virtualization and VMWare Technologies.
  • Excellent understanding of infrastructure as it relates to hardware (HP servers), networking (Cisco), storage (Dell EMC), backup (Veeam).
  • Understanding of how typical client server and n-tier applications infrastructure architecture look like from an infrastructure perspective is an asset.

  • Prior experience and knowledge of document management systems, preferably iManage, would be considered an asset.
  • Practical understanding of the fundamental concepts related to IT Service delivery as defined by ITIL or similar IT process framework.

  • Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations, with effective time management, task prioritization, and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple competing priorities under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, fast paced environment
