Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Supervisor, Data Centre and Client Services to join one of our clients located in Ottawa for a permanent role
Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure, the Supervisor of Data Centres and Client Services will be an integral part of the CTO division working with the IT Infrastructure and service group, enterprise solutions, cybersecurity and smart technology group.
The Supervisor, Data Centre and Client Services performs and oversees a variety of day to day IT operational duties. As the lead resource for server, data centre and IT service desk activities, the Supervisor works with stakeholders to develop and implement
processes and technologies to support organizational strategies. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to established and emerging best practices in technology and business operations in the maintenance, optimization and evolution of IT systems, support applications, assets and infrastructure.
It oversees all activities related to life cycle management of IT assets including management of risk, cost, controls and compliance in relation to business objectives.
As a team leader, the Supervisor, Data Centre and Client Services is responsible for supervising staff in their daily activities.
Tasks include but are not limited to :
Lead data centre management including UPS maintenance and administration, deployment, monitoring and support of physical and virtual server standards and image management
Plan and manage system updates, proactively monitoring and recommending enhancements to vulnerability management practices
Supervise day-to-day IT Service Desk activities in support of employee IT requirements related to software and hardware including laptops, WIFI, mobile devices, user accounts, and related activities
Manage day-to-day activities of asset acquisition and disposal and complete regular physical asset inventory and reconciliation
Manage hardware and system resource configuration, monitoring, alerting and response activities
Lead application and system capacity and performance assessments
Coordinate enterprise backup, restoration, archiving and disaster recovery activities with respect to data integrity management, including remote access and file transfer systems
Lead and / or collaborate on corporate projects with technical and functional stakeholders from all business areas
Collaborate with stakeholders in the coordination and implementation of security initiatives
Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, procurement efforts, and growth plans
Coordinate the development and maintenance of technical and business user documentation, and policies and procedures as required
Manage multi-year capital plan and yearly capital budget development; measure and monitor on-going activities related to the plan and budget
Manage and maintain key performance indicators and produce monthly metrics with analyses for the management team
Perform project management and oversight of new programs; manage and prioritize project schedules
Routinely audit processes for consistency with established guidelines and goals
Provide support to, and communicate with, senior and executive management on technology initiatives and issues as required
Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the information architecture and strategy
Performs other duties as required
Education / Experience :
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems or directly related discipline
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership and operational experience in day to day IT operations, data processing and security / production control administration
Experience in writing policies, procedures and technical documentation
Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
Comprehensive experience with core operational security methodologies and technologies including firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion detection / prevention, monitoring and reporting
Experience implementing and managing infrastructure in the cloud
Experience working with the principles of ITIL or other process driven IT management methodology
Experience in IT asset life-cycle management
English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (English / French) considered an asset
