Our Client now seeks a VP of Data and Finance Systems to serve a critical role in its Canadian operations.
Position Overview :
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the vision and strategy of an enterprise Data transformation programme.
She or he will deliver foundational data capabilities and will be accountable for regulatory reporting while collaborating with business partners to drive insights about customer, pricing and service models.
The role is a key enabler in deriving business value from the organization’s information assets, improving the customer and employee experience, corporate growth and overall profitability.
The successful candidate will lead Finance systems team in both day-to-day operational and relationship management activities and will partner with Finance to deliver a strategic transformation of Finance capabilities.
The successful candidate will be a passionate leader who will design, shape and implement both data and finance systems strategies, utilizing best in class data management tools, platforms and integration capabilities.
A critical enabler for the firm’s ongoing digital transformation, the ideal candidate will have expertise in Finance, analytics, modeling and will have strong software engineering skills.
Optimally, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, executing and overseeing both Data and Finance transformation initiatives.
Reporting to the local CIO while collaborating with across a global IT organization, the successful candidate will manage a team of highly capable and motivated individuals comprised of internal employees and global service partners together with the budget appropriate to deliver excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Champion the value of data as a strategic asses ensuring executive stakeholder alignment
Shape, lead and drive the Finance and Data strategies and roadmaps in support of all business units
Formulate and align Data and Finance capabilities aligning with global and local architectural practices and development methodologies
Deliver solutions which add measurable and specific business value and are consistent with best practice methodologies, approaches and architectural standards
Drive a culture of customer focused innovation and accountability using Agile methodologies
Develop roadmaps in collaboration with key business partners to understand their objectives, key processes, information flows, metrics and business challenges
Develop and execute strategies to work with Data and Finance owners to ensure clear understanding of roles and responsibilities
Identify and prioritize analytical gaps between the current-state and industry best practices in partnership with Architecture while implementing operation quick-
wins to demonstrate competency and generate immediate business value
Provide programme and project level oversight for all initiatives; monitor budgets, timelines and quality of deliverables across projects
Leadership and Accountability
Foster an innovation culture with empowered teams who take calculated risks and continuously improve skills, efficiency and quality of work
Possess the ability to explain highly technical concepts and complicated issues to a non-technical, executive-level audience, conveying challenges and solutions
Establish results-oriented goals and KPI’s which are fully aligned with both the strategic and operational plans
Mentor and encourage personnel to collaborate, aspire to and deliver best-in-class services in a professional and customer focused manner
Provide thought leadership to drive innovation in the areas of business intelligence, analytics, data warehousing, MDM and data
Build awareness of analytics through internal workshops and presentations
Continuously take a forward looking view by researching, validating and proposing new and industry best-practice technical and functional solutions
Champion the shift to delivery of business intelligence as a service
Preferred Experience / Education
10+ years of IT executive level leadership experience
Leadership style that exhibits strategic thinking, high energy, collaboration, direct communication and results orientation
Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate with key business and IT stakeholders to develop recommendations, achieve buy-
in and achieve measurable results
Demonstrable track record of success in the development and deployment of data management, analytics and business intelligence projects and programmes
Demonstrable track record of success in operating and transforming Finance and downstream systems
Strong commercial orientation with the ability to interpret business requirements and translate those into actionable and practical technical strategies
Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, mathematics, computer science is required with a Masters or Doctorate degree in data analytics, Data science or statistics (or related field) is highly preferred
Financial designation (CPA, CMA, CA)
