  • Intent of the process

    This process is intended to fill existing vacancy(ies) and may be used to fill anticipated vacancy(ies) and / or used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Specified period, Seasonal), security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of Parks Canada Agency.

    You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    Education :

    Successful completion of secondary school (grade 12) or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

    Experience :

  • Experience in coordinating and conducting preventative maintenance in semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing and / or electrical work for the contruction, repair and installation of facilities, components and / or structures
  • Experience in the use, operation and maintenance of a range of manual and power tools and equipment
  • Experience in basic computer programs
  • The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

    Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of applying a ranger of general plumbing, mechanical and / or construction techniques and semi-skilled repair, maintenance, and installation methods, and practices
  • Knowledge of operating a wide range of manual and power tools
  • Knowledge and skill to determine / calculate quantities, time / cost estimates and specifications; record data; and maintain computerized records and logs
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (ie. Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook)
  • Abilities :

    Ability to conduct work in accordance with instructions, established procedures and techniques, safety rules, and the correct use of tools and requipment

    Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize a varied workload

    Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently

    Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing

    Operational Requirements :

    Willingness to travel / work in a variety of weather condition and terrain

    Willingness to travel / work extensively throughout Yukon to various Parks sites

    Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment

    Willingness to fly in and work closely with both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters

    Conditions of employment

    Reliability Status security clearance

    Valid Class 5 Yukon drivers' licence

    Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks

    Successfully complete safety courses and training as required (Employer will provide training)
