As the Product Developer for our Beauty Line, you will play a key role in supporting the Sourcing, Production and Operations Manager in the developing a 3-
year pipeline of Beauty and Wellness products. You will work on new product innovation based on trends, gaps in the portfolio, capturing our target customer, and driving sales.
Formulation & Development (50%)
Analyze current trends in the Beauty & Wellness industry to develop an innovative and effective formula.
Lead conceptualization, development, evaluation, and follow through all new product launches.
Identify contract manufacturing partners that support clean formula development and sustainable manufacturing processes.
Spearhead generation of R&D proposals on key ingredients, applications that can be utilized from industry findings, and develop an estimated cost to support the product development.
Provide recommendations on formulations with a focus on clean, organic, and sustainable beauty products that work.
Maintain beauty & wellness industry knowledge to bring cutting-edge science to the company.
Quality Assurance & Compliance (50%)
Provide guidance on regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with QA on all testing requirements to support product launches to ensure all safety and compliance measures adhere to domestic and global distribution.
Undergraduate Degree in Science, plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D, product development innovation, or related roles within the cosmetics industry.
Experience with Canadian, US, and EU regulations and requirements, such as Health Canada, cGMP, FDA, and ISO.
Experience in understanding consumer / market needs in the development of technical product requirements.
Experience with usability testing, ethnographic research, and product development tools.
Experience with private label or owned brand management is an asset
Outstanding communication, strong presentation skills, and ability to adjust style and format as required to suit the audience.
Ability to formulate and sell recommendations based on robust research.
