PRIMARY PURPOSE : Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration in the College of Dentistry, the Storekeeper handles and dispenses materials and supplies used for teaching and research.
Due to the nature of the materials and supplies used and distributed through Dentistry Stores, this position must be trained in WHMIS and in the handling of dangerous goods.
This position is required to lift heavy, bulky objects. Order replacement goods to replenish the inventory, and where necessary source out comparable product;
work with sales representatives and suppliers in placing orders and checking back orders, and with common carriers in checking shortages and damaged goods;
participate in determining appropriate inventory levels; bill the purchasers’ accounts for the goods provided; receive, arrange and rearrange all stock required for efficient service and minimum handling;
delivery of orders within the College; maintain an accurate database of inventory items and current pricing; account for stock and expenditures by reconciling purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, receiving slips, and sales records;
lift and move heavy and bulky objects; prepare student kits as required; provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and other departments who wish to purchase items from Dentistry Stores;
perform other duties as assigned.
Education : Completion of Grade 12. Lab Tech Diploma preferred. Trained in WHMIS and the handling of dangerous goods. Experience : Effective interpersonal and communications skills;
demonstrated effective organizational skills; ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team; proficient with computer software including inventory and billing programs;
familiarity with purchasing processes; physical ability to lift heavy and bulky objects.
