    Come join a new team reporting to the Chief Data Officer (CDO) at National Bank whose main mission is to improve the wellbeing of its clients by using their data securely to offer them customized advice and solutions.

    As Data Engineering Practice Lead, you'll be responsible for the strategic direction, development, growth and practice at the Bank.

    You'll also safeguard values and best practices. You'll report to the CDO and also have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the VP - IT Transformation to ensure continuous alignment with the IT teams.

    Your main responsibilities and challenges will be to :

  • Define the data engineering practice, as well as its vision, strategy and capacities
  • Ensure that the vision and strategy of the data engineering practice is aligned with the IT architecture and software engineering targets and principles (e.
  • g. the 12 DevOps principles)

  • Work closely with the IT Architecture and Data Architecture teams to develop a strategic vision of the data pipelines required in the company
  • Guide, supervise and train the Bank's analytical community on standard practices
  • Draw up a clear roadmap for achieving the data engineering vision and maturity
  • Develop strong processes while ensuring a robust control environment and quality assurance documentation
  • Develop standard procedures for exemplary data engineering performance
  • Oversee the design of the key performance indicators the Bank will use in the data pipelines
  • Work closely with other experienced members of the team to identify, plan, develop and deliver data services
  • Work closely with the information technology, science and data analysis teams and the business communities to understand needs and define and implement adequate data engineering to support the strategy
  • Develop a resource management capacity plan to ensure that the right resources are assigned to the squad in charge of agile business analysis based on the Bank'

    Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant experience

  • Business process and results-based expertise
  • Attitude firmly focused on the client experience, combined with perfect understanding of business needs and the ability to find a solution to meet those needs
  • Experience producing and maintaining software projects, particularly as regards the Big Data ecosystem
  • Solid technical understanding of developing modelling
  • Solid understanding of software engineering practices
  • Ability to explain complex data in plain language to help clients make decisions
  • Experience with streaming applications and application program interfaces (API)
  • Ability to engage and communicate with impact
  • Sound leadership skills and proven ability to make decisions through all business cycles
  • Experience managing and creating a diversified team made up of highly qualified data professionals
  • Ability to provide deliverables, both for yourself and further to influencing others
  • Sound negotiation, communication and influencing skills
  • Strong employee development and resource management skills
