We are seeking applications for current and future Administrative Services Assistant and Medical Office Assistant support positions as need arises throughout the year for the Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) department for following worksites located in the North Okanagan area.

  • Vernon Mental Health & Substance Use
  • Seeking either a qualified Administrative Services Assistant or a Medical Office Assistant.

    Hours of work : Monday to Friday shifts are either 08 : 00-16 : 00, 08 : 30-16 : 30, or 09 : 00-17 : 00

  • Revelstoke Mental Health & Substance Use
  • Seeking either a qualified Administrative Services Assistant or a Medical Office Assistant.

    Hours of work : Monday to Friday 08 : 00 to 16 : 30 hours.

    Please note : Casual opportunities offer no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

  • A current Typing Test 40 wpm or greater completed within past 24 months from a recognized institution;
  • An Office Administration Certificate, a Medical Office Assistant Certificate or a Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate or clear demonstration of equivalent education or experience;
  • A current valid BC Driver’s License;
  • Your Resume;
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position; and your schedule availability for on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).
  • The Administrative Services Assistant / Medical Office Assistant position performs a variety of reception, administrative support and medical office assistant duties such as : .

  • Registers clients, answers telephone, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, filing, data entry and word processing, database applications, compiles and enters statistical information, records, transcribes, types, drafts, creates, updates all forms of correspondence;
  • Schedules and confirms client appointments;
  • Maintains medical supplies, equipment and MHSU resource material;
  • Delivers and disposes of supplies, biologicals, materials, and equipment;
  • Cleaning, setting up and dismantling rooms, cleaning / sanitizing equipment;
  • Deal with clients who may be confused, anxious, angry or difficult.

    Education, Training and Experience :

  • Grade 12
  • Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate Program; Medical Office Administrative Program; Medical Administrative Assistant Program, Plus
  • One years recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Completion of a Typing Test at 40 wpm dated within the past 24 months and must be issued from a valid institution only.
