The Opportunity :

Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Mine Planning Engineer to join our Horizon mine planning team.

In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups. Key Accountabilities :

  • Develop and communicate detailed mine plans and schedules in support of the safe, reliable and cost effective operation of Horizon Oil Sands
  • Monitor stewardship to mine plans and to Canadian Natural’s regulatory requirements within those plans
  • Collaborate with the Mine Operation, Tailings Planning and Mine Planning teams to ensure plan optimization
  • Responsible for maintenance, operation and upkeep of the mining model
  • Maintain orderly data, perform consistent accurate calculations and use mine planning software to complete assigned tasks
  • Other Details :

  • Job location : Horizon Oil Sands site north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Eligible for relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Company Sponsored Fly-In / Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
  • This is a safety sensitive position
  • Shift : 4x3 (Mon Thur, 10 hours / day)

  • Skills & Qualifications :

  • Degree in mine, geological or civil engineering
  • Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng or eligible to register
  • Experience with mine planning software, Hexagon Minesight and Runge XACT / XPAC preferred
  • Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
