    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :

    OC1-1 : Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license, a 310S Automotive Service Technician license and, a 421 A Heavy licence issued by the Province of Ontario OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310T Truck and Coach Technician license, a 310S Automotive Service Technician license and, a 421 A Heavy licence

    OC1-2 : Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license and, a 421 A Heavy licence issued by the Province of Ontario or Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310T Truck and Coach Technician license and, a 421 A Heavy licence.

    Depending on the position to be staffed, one of the following will be required :

    OC2-1 : Possession of a valid and un restricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class A vehicles with airbrake endorsement (Z) or other provincial or territorial equivalent

    OC2-2 : Possession of a valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class G vehicles or other provincial or territorial equivalent

    EXPERIENCE :

    Depending on the position to be staffed, one or more of the following will be required :

    EX1 : Experience in the maintenance, inspection and repair of gas and diesel engines and components (e.g. gas and diesel fuel injection systems, etc.)

    EX2 : Experience in the maintenance, inspection and repair of diverse Heavy Duty Equipment such as equipment from Caterpillar, Volvo, Case, etc.

    EX3 : Experience in diagnosing problems on Hydraulic systems, highway tractors, and trailers.

    EX4 : At least 1 year of continuous experience in the maintenance, inspection and repair of automotive, heavy equipment or truck and coach at the journeyperson proficiency level.

    ABILITIES :

    A1 : Ability to communicate effectively orally

    PERSONAL SUITABILITY :

    OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :

    AQ1 : Additional endorsement, certification or license as Small Engine Technician, Marine Engine / Service Technician or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.

    AQ2 : Possession of certification or completion of acceptable training in one or more of the following :

    EXPERIENCE :

    AQ3 : Experience inspecting or repairing one or more of the following : graders, highway plows, front-end loaders, aircraft refueling vehicles, cargo loading vehicles, runway sweepers and fire trucks.

    AQ4 : Experience mentoring technicians during on-the-job training

    AQ5 : Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

    AQ6 Experience using DRMIS or Fleet Management Software.

    AQ7 : Recent* experience as a mechanic servicing Heavy Duty Equipment in a licensed garage or dealership.

  • Within the last two years
  • AQ8 : Experience working on materials handling equipment and earth movers.

    OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

    OR1 : May be required to work overtime

    OR2 : May be required to work standby duties on a rotating basis

    OR3 : Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required

    Security / Reliability : Various security requirements including Reliability Status and Level II Secret

    Other Conditions of Employment :

    Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain current membership at the Ontario College of Trades as a fully licenced 310T Truck and Coach Technician and a 310S Automotive Service Technician

    Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain current membership at the Ontario College of Trades as a fully licenced as 310T Truck and Coach Technician.

    Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain Departmental Driver’s Licence (DND 404)

    Ability to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50lbs

    For some positions :

    Must maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class A vehicles with airbrake endorsement (Z) or other provincial or territorial equivalent
