Genetec is currently looking for a candidate to fill the position of Systems Administrator for their infrastructure Lab of the R&D group.
The system Administrator will be part of team responsible for the creation and support of the various images done for the appliances sold by Genetec.
The main responsibility of system administrator will develop, maintain and improve the images and desired configuration for hardware resold and supported by Genetec.
This hardware consist of high-end workstation, server, SAN, NAS, switches, specialized dedicated custom devices,
The candidate will be involve in the management of the lifecycle and specifications of the product. He will also be a point of contact for technical issues and will troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve or escalate as required.
The lab environment consists of many physical servers, workstations and many virtual servers on VMware, Hyper-V and Azure technology.
The candidate will need to administer various versions of Windows, SQL server and other Windows based applications. In addition, there is a large amount of network devices such as switches, VoIP cameras, encoders and decoders.
Create and support the various images done for the appliances sold by Genetec
Manage the details and specifications of the current and new appliance offerings
Collaborate with product management, project management, and 3rd party contractors
Assist in the assessment of new appliance platforms, hardware components, and operating systems.
Operate of the computers, servers, cameras, network and various devices of the lab
Plan, implement, maintain and support the network and computing environment within the infrastructure lab
Install, configure and maintain the various virtual environments (Azure, HyperV, VMware)
Assist with technology planning through ongoing research
Provide support to various R&D teams for applications implemented on servers
Share technical information (written or verbally) to the other team members
Produce, update and maintain documentation on the lab setup and configurations
Prepare and configure equipment with specific configuration
Provide assistance and support to various employees using the Lab equipment
Perform physical installation of the equipment
Participate in evaluation and benchmarking of various type of computing equipment
Ensure timely resolution of equipment failure and problems
Report, record, track and escalade incidents with management and or vendors
Must be functional in English and French
Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent experience
5 years of experience in a similar position or IT
Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently, autonomously and in a team
Effective organization and time-management skills
Experience in Customer Service, Technical Support, network or system administration
Technical Requirements :
Excellent knowledge and experience with the various Windows operating systems :
Windows Server 2012r2, 2016 Windows10, 8.1, 7 Embedded OSs
Experience with automation tools (scripts, powershell)
Experience with imaging tools (clonezilla, dism, acronis)
Excellent knowledge of networking principles and the IP protocol.
Experience with PC / Server configuration and troubleshooting
Experience with networking equipment configuration and troubleshooting. (Switches, routers, etc.)
Experience with storage solution and concepts (SAN,NAS,LUNs, RAID, iSCSi) installation,
maintenance and troubleshooting
Experience as an administrator with VMware, and HyperV for virtualization
Experience with Sysprep image creation and deployment with MDT
CCNA, MCP, VCP or other technical professional certification
Experience with CCTV systems (camera, matrix, DVR, etc.)
Experience with Access control systems (reader, controller, wiring, etc.)
