Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer the Day Technician will be primarily focused on ensuring safe and efficient operations, as well as operations readiness of capital projects which are to be turned over to operations, outage planning and temporary unit coverage as required.
This is a 7-on 7-off, 12 hour days / nights rotational field based position working at our Leismer site located in the Fort McMurray area.
Act as unit relief during periods of vacation or sickness. Relief may entail working any of the following units (steam, water treatment, process / de-
oiling, field, cheecham or control room);
Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise;
Coordinate commissioning activities related to sustaining capital projects or small modifications;
Promote, understand, enforce and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, near misses, lock outs, blind lists, emergency response plans, and implements safe working attitude;
Task analysis and procedural development;
Lead and participate in planned inspections of the work areas;
Troubleshooting equipment problems and initiating repair notifications;
Assisting with special projects as directed by the Shift Engineer;
Participate or lead incident investigations, implementing any changes found
A valid 2nd or 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate;
Approximately eight (8) or more years of experience in thermal, heavy oil and / or gas production environment;
Previous pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and operations experience in hydrocarbon processing facilities considered an asset;
Must be computer literate and demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and Maximo;
Strong analytical, trouble-shooting and decision making abilities;
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required;
Must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and set a good example to all other workers;
Strong team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary;
Possess a valid Class five (5) driver’s license;
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
