Working in a dynamic, collaborative and cross-functional environment, the Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) / Fleet Technician is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, diagnosis and repair of emergency vehicles and equipment in compliance with legislatively mandated guidelines to maintain the required level of emergency vehicles for operations, as well as assist with the maintenance of all other Town fleet vehicles and equipment.

Working closely with the Fleet Manager, the EVT provides comment on emergency vehicle and equipment (as well as on all other Town vehicles and equipment as requested) replacement forecasts, participates in the emergency vehicle acquisition process and vehicle / equipment demonstrations, keeps current with emerging emergency vehicle / fleet trends and technologies and maintenance activities, and liaises with internal and external fleet clients in a customer-focused environment.

Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will have the following accreditations : Truck & Coach 310T (Interprovincial Red Seal) Certification, Automotive 310S (Interprovincial Red Seal) Certification, Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 1, 2 & 3 Certificate, including EVT F-

5 certification (aerial devices), and Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certification. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience on heavy, medium and light duty vehicles with at least three (3) years’ experience with emergency vehicles and equipment.

We’re also looking for a candidate with the necessary credentials required to conduct annual ground ladder testing and annual fire pump testing.

Knowledge working with Natural Gas powered equipment is an asset. A valid Class G driver’s license as well as Class D driver’s license with Z air brake endorsement in good standing is required as is the ability to participate in on-

call, after hours work to assist with emergency repairs. Additionally, you will be required to provide your own tools and they must be in good condition.
