Temporary Full-time (approx.1 month with possibility of extension)

JOB SUMMARY

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided.

  • Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by : providing physical therapy assessment and treatment for Musculoskeletal and Cardiac clients;
  • assessing for and prescribe mobility aids; collaborating with inter-professional team in providing patient focused care;
  • communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members; participating in program planning and development and professional and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research;
  • complying with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions is required
  • Previous experience working with Cardiac patients is preferred
  • Bobath and / or NDT experience preferred
  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • Experience as member of interprofessional team required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
  • Computer proficiency required
