VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre is currently recruiting for a Veterinary Specialist Medical Oncologist, to join our team of highly engaged and professional veterinary professionals.

In this role, you will diagnose and treat patients with cancer. The successful candidate will understand the importance of collaborating with the pet-owner and the support team to provide the best treatment possible to your patient.

You are confident in operating various medical equipment and performing medical procedures related to small animal oncology and you pride yourself on providing expert patient care!

  • Additional qualifications include;
  • Post graduate studies in small animal oncology
  • Veterinarian degree, DVM
  • 3+ years performing small animal procedures related to oncology; biopsy, surgical planning, surgical closure and tissue analysis
  • Determining an appropriate course of treatment : chemotherapy & immunotherapy
  • Experience with mast cell tumours related to small companion animals
  • Interpreting radiographs ad ultrasound scans
  • Managing chemotherapy side effects
  • Genuine passion for veterinary medicine and for our furry friends!

    Founded in 1973, Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to serving the needs of veterinarians and pet owners, offering specialty and emergency veterinary services at one of the largest, most comprehensive facilities of its kind in Canada.

    Our team includes specialists in Medical / Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, and Rehabilitation - along with 24-hour emergency care.

    Our hospital culture fosters teamwork and camaraderie that naturally leads to delivering exceptional care to our patients, and service to our clients, referring veterinarians and our community.

    The hospital is well equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, CT scanner, mechanical ventilator, a complete on-site diagnostic laboratory and monitoring equipment.

    Our referral base is large, with over 100 referring hospitals on Vancouver Island. 11 of these hospitals are partner clinics from whom we draw referrals to all services.

    New Hospital / West Coast Animal Cancer Centre

    Our new, state of the art, 20,000 sq. ft. hospital will open its doors in the Spring of 2021. This new facility will house the West Coast Animal Cancer Centre with a Linear Accelerator, CT scanner and MRI - just to name just a few.

    We are very excited to be a part of the progressive diagnostic opportunities that our Oncology service can provide our patients.
