Job Outline :

The Decision Support portfolio at UHN provides analytical support to all sites and services across UHN as well as to the selected Provincial / LHIN initiatives.

Our team is composed of highly qualified and experienced data management and analytics professionals from a range of analytics backgrounds and use variety of methods from simple analysis to advanced statistical modelling, simulation, and prediction modeling to support our clients.

An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a senior data analyst. We are seeking a creative, and innovative individual who can provide data analytical support for the UHN clinicians, researchers, and corporate business areas.

  • These include, but not limited to the : developing and reporting clinical, quality and operational metrics; interpretation and presentation of findings;
  • developing and maintaining cross-sector scorecards and dashboards; and performing data quality investigations.

    In this role, you will work directly with other members of the Decision Support team and / or individuals at various levels within the organization and will report to the Manger of Decision Support.

    Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with a team of decision support analysts to provide analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data; and create and maintain technical documentation
  • Support clinical and non-clinical areas in development of key performance indicators, dashboards, data visualizations, and reports (routine and ad hoc) for the purposes of monitoring and optimizing organization performance on quality, safety, operations and planning
  • Provide analytical support and expertise to facilitate effective and efficient benchmarking and prediction analysis at corporate and clinical program levels.
  • Support reporting to various external reporting agencies such as : CCO, MOHLTC, TC LHIN, etc
  • Conduct data quality investigations and engage in continuous data quality improvements
  • Commit to and actively work to remain knowledgeable and up-to-date in the assigned field
  • Make recommendations and challenge the status quo to find alternative / creative ways to improve reporting processes and quality
  • Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Medical Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a decision support environment including experience preparing analyses of operational, and quality measures;
  • healthcare experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analytics, visualization, and reporting
  • Experience in conducting data flow and process mapping and leading data projects; familiarity with project management methodologies is preferred
  • Experience in working with statistical tools (e.g., SAS, R, SPSS) is required
  • Experience in working with a data visualizing tools (Power BI) is highly preferred
  • Experience with relational database structures and the extraction and manipulation of data using Microsoft SQL is preferred
  • Experience with the CIHI (DAD, NACRS, NRS, CCRS) or other large healthcare datasets (e.g., Wait Times) is preferred
  • Knowledge of health care reporting requirements (HBAM, QBP, CSA) is preferred
  • Proficient use of MS Office suite (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Display a positive attitude towards complex challenges as well as routine maintenance and administration tasks
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision and also possessing a positive team spirited attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Adherence to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical information
  • Meetings and Travel :

    Our office is in the Toronto Downtown area (Yonge / Dundas). Some travel throughout the GTA is required, dependent on work assignments.
