Job Description

  • In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone;
  • as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

  • Reporting to the Manager, the Leader, North Island Medical Imaging is responsible for the day to day operation of the designated modality / sites including capital and operating budgets, booking and scheduling procedures, revenues and receivables;
  • supervises staff and provides leadership in best practices; recruits, selects and evaluates staff; and works collaboratively with Medical Imaging Managers to plan strategically and set service delivery goals for designated modalities / sites;

    Education, Training And Experience

    Certification by, and eligible for membership in, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

    Baccalaureate degree in a health related discipline or health care administration and completion of recognised management / leadership / supervisory courses, or an equivalent combination of education and training.

    Three (3) years supervisory experience in an acute health care setting.

  • Knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS); knowledge of and expertise in designated modalities and best practice principles, procedures, protocols, and equipment;
  • and five (5) years recent, related experience in designated modalities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability to teach, provide orientation, conduct presentations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to implement effective problem-solving processes.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including a variety of computer software applications such as Word, Excell, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound professional judgement, leadership and team building skills.
  • Ability to secure facts through investigation, information gathering and documentation.
  • Ability to prepare concise and accurate written reports.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
