An opportunity exists for a Bridge Team Leader based in our Edmonton office. The Transportation Group is growing and consists of about 40 multi-disciplined staff that are involved in the planning, design and construction management of roads, bridges and LRT for a variety of public and private clients in western and northern Canada.
These projects typically encompass the entire life cycle of the asset from feasibility studies through detailed design, Technical Advisory Services and construction oversight.

Your Key Responsibilities
As a Bridge Team Leader in our Edmonton Transportation Group, you will lead the team of professionals planning and design of bridges and other structures in various bridge rehabilitation, and new construction projects for roadway, pedestrian / cyclist and transit projects.
You will be responsible for :
Assuming leadership of the Edmonton Bridge Group, including supervising designers and technical support staff, addressing staffing needs and issues, responding to proposal calls, and developing business plans
Managing the bridge task of multi-discipline projects, consisting of developing structure rehabilitation or replacement strategies, completing structural analysis, design for a variety of transportation structures, and preparing construction contract documents, and reports
Preparing and presenting information to clients and the public
Regular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design office
Financial management of bridge team projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and invoicing
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience and relationships with several bridge owners, including the City of Edmonton, Alberta Transportation, Strathcona County, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory, and various municipalities in the greater Edmonton area.
Extensive knowledge of relevant bridge design codes, particularly CHBDC and AREMA
Good knowledge of Alberta Transportation design practice manuals, standards and policies.
Extensive experience as lead engineer on a variety of bridge design assignments, with responsibility for assessing repair / replacement strategies
Experience with structural design software such as SAP2000, CSiBridge or equivalent
Proven experience in non-routine inspections and emergency response, and developing strategies for urgently deficient structures
Demonstrated experience with innovative bridge technologies, including ABC
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead individuals on project assignments in a team environment
Experience in the Alberta Market
Enthusiastic attitude with interest in skills development, continual improvement and mentoring
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field & Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 10 years of bridge-related work experience.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
