The RECE, under the direction of the Director, will be working in the Classroom. The RECE will primarily be responsible for the planning and delivery of inclusive play-
based learning and care programs for children in order to promote the well-being and holistic development of children. This position will assess needs, set goals, and formulate plans of action for improvement, and follow up and provide feedback on the child’s progress.
This role will also evaluate and assess individual child’s aptitudes and apply teaching practices that facilitate individual comprehension.
Plan, organize and facilitate the curriculum based on the Ministry of Education's framework for early learning called How Does Learning Happen?
Completes required documentation of children’s development and interactions including but not limited to progress reports and program planning
Provide supervision of and support to students in daily activities
Maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment for students
Ensure guidance of children's behaviour that encourages positive self-concept
Communicate effectively with parents and family members including scheduled written reports and contribute to the on-going operation of the centre
Guide and assists students in the development of self-help skills such as eating, dressing and toileting and demonstrating flexibility by being able to work in all classrooms when needed
Maintain an environment that supports the health, safety and well-being of the children
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families, co-workers and community service providers
Other duties as assigned
Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education required
Experience working with children of all ages
Vulnerable Police Reference Check; Valid first aid and CPR certification (Level C)
Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Early Learning Program
Knowledge of play based acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills
Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management
Experience in planning and implementing developmentally age appropriate programs
Experience in the use of computer technology (e.g email, internet, word processing etc.)
High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
High level of integrity and work ethic
Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion
