Senior Contracts & Legal Specialist
The Contract and Legal Specialist is responsible for drafting and participating in the negotiation of various commercial contractual agreements in line with CN policies and procedures.
In support of the Contracts & Legal Manager, the Contract and Legal Specialist will effectively foster ongoing improvement of Project Procurement Contract Management execution methods and tools.
Summary of tasks
Harness strong working relationships with various cross functional groups throughout the company and work closely with the Contracts and Legal Manager to implement processes, programs, and compliance.
Understand internal and external factors that are including use of the methods and tools; proactively identify opportunities to improve methods and tools.
Maintain healthy external vendor relationships; ensure a sharing of common values and adherence to service level agreements.
Participate in negotiating complex contracts with a multitude of vendors (master services agreements and statements of work).
Lead the detailed financial comprehension of IT financials and gauging the cost efficiency of such services.
Ability to work effectively in a complex, multi-site organization including some global travel.
Able to autonomously negotiate external vendor contracts.
Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills in both English and French.
Results-oriented and possess excellent analytical skills.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Professional, dedicated, and detail oriented.
Exposure to software development and open source industry an asset.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
This position requires a university degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience. Legal Background an asset.
