What will your role be?
Due to our strong growth in recent months, we are currently looking for a second Practice Lead - Backend to support the Technical Director - Platform as well as the Practice Lead - Backend already in place.
The Backend Developer team is currently made up of more than 25 people and you will be the proximity manager of about 15 of them.
We are looking for a manager who is still very technical and who loves this aspect of his work even if he is not in the thick of it every day.
Working on the Radio-Canada Digital Media team means being on the front line of innovative products like Tou.TV, Ohdio, Radiocanada.
ca, news and sports applications as well as Olympic games coverage platforms. Here, nothing is done externally and it benefits our employees!
What will your responsibilities be?
Dedicating 20% to 30% of your time to supporting employees in their career improvement and growing them within Radio Canada’s digital media, as well as understanding their issues and helping to solve them.
In collaboration with your Technical Director and the current Practice Lead - Backend, elaborating a strategic plan for the evolution of the backend practice as well as the Backend Developer business role and submitting it to the Senior Directors for approval.
Being one of the 2 main players in the implementation of the elements of this strategic plan at the level of the monitoring and sequencing of these elements during the year.
Participating in the technological choices for the Backend practice but also in the perspective of the Who will be in charge of which initiative and ensuring that this person is properly trained for this task.
Supporting the Technical Lead in his assignment choices for the different projects.
Responsible for bringing digital media culture to life.
Responsible for technical interviews during hiring processes in his Director’s group.
Contribute to the internal and external outreach of Digital Media.
What profile are we looking for?
In-depth knowledge of backend development in C#
15+ years of working experience
Ten (10 years developer experience / technical lead / architect
Five (5) to eight (8) years of team management experience
Ability to work in a team, excellent communicator
Ability to popularize technical concepts
Excellent judgment, sense of initiative, great autonomy
Rigour, autonomy and a strong sense of responsibility
Fluency in French and functional knowledge of written and spoken English, an asset
Technical Environment (here is what you will work with) :
C#, absolutely essential, you need to have several years of experience with C#
Visual Studio & VS Code, absolutely essential, you need to know very well one of these EDI
Azure DevOps (Build / Release pipelines)
TypeScript, an asset
React, an asset
GraphQL, an asset
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
