The Opportunity :
The Director, Human Resources will lead the HR function supporting multiple office and employees across North America. The successful candidate will contribute to the success of the business by developing and implementing short and long-term strategies, compensation and benefit plans, policies and programs to support the overall business objectives and attract and retain top talent as an employer of choice.

Key Accountabilities :
HR and Labour Relations
Support the delivery and deployment of HR projects and cross-functional programs by fostering and maintaining strong internal relationships with key business leaders and stakeholders
Work with the senior management team to develop short and long-term business strategies, determining the major HR implications of these business plans, develop action plans to enhance the business success through new and innovating HR ideas
Facilitate all talent management processes - talent acquisition, annual talent review, succession planning, performance management and employee development
Support talent acquisition and business leaders to develop proactive strategies to attract key talent, as well as retain and develop high potential talent
Maintain an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in HR to ensure policies and procedures stay current and market competitive
Act as an advisor to senior management by providing advice guidance and / or coaching on sensitive confidential and complex HR issues
Develop and provide a range of management reports / metrics, using data to drive decisions, analyses trends from data and provide value-added solutions to operational problems
Assist with labour relations activity including collective bargaining, labour relations matters, grievances and disciplinary action
Provide expertise in labour relations to the business stakeholders
Develop and support total value practices and recommend changes as appropriate to maintain competitive positioning; ensure programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs
Ensure alignment of incentive / reward elements with culture, strategy and operational requirements
Provide expertise and leadership on employee programs such as : base compensation, deferred compensation plans, variable compensation plans, employee benefits and wellness, disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance, employee savings and retirement programs
Manage the day to day disability management program and vendor relationship
Maintain a working knowledge of legislation influencing compensation and benefits
Work with finance and legal to ensure accurate financial reporting
Lead the annual year end compensation -salary and bonus program
Support the day to day operation of the HRIS system, ensuring stability during new releases
System administrator of the HRIS accountable for data quality and system security
Support requests for ongoing HR analytics to business leaders, with actionable, proactive metrics that drive forecasting capabilities and strategic insights
Oversight of the payroll and HR operations functions
Ensure audit compliance and overall accuracy of payroll processes
Desired Skills & Competencies :
Strong business acumen, as well as general HR functional knowledge
Excellent leadership, strong people management, communication (written and oral), interpersonal and management skills
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations that require sound decision making and may involve confidential or sensitive matters
Ability to coordinate and manage complex projects given multiple competing priorities or perspectives; ability to manage ambiguity, risk, and changing direction of projects and strategies
Expertise in the design, development, implementation, and administration of compensation and benefits programs
Hands on experience with HR systems, applications and tools, as well as metrics and data
Strong technical capability with MS Excel and HRIS configuration / updates
Education and Experience Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related degree required
8 10 years of experience in HR
CHRP, PCP or CEBS designation would be an asset
Generalist HR experience
Generalist payroll, benefits, retirement programs and HRIS experience
Experience in benefits design and administration
Knowledge of HRIS systems, HR metrics, and HR operational practices required, experience with Dayforce HCM would be an asset
Strong technical capability with MS Excel and HRIS
