Provide fuel channel integrity support to clients in the nuclear sector in the areas of full core assessment analysis, uncertainty analysis, code development and other related disciplines.
Assist in conducting projects in conjunction with senior engineers or supervisor
Assist in analysis of technical results and report writing
Prepare technical reports suitable for submission to clients and to nuclear regulators (for example, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or equivalent is required.
Candidates are expected to have or pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation.
Strong coding skills, preferably having fluency in Matlab and Fortran. Familiarity with R would be a bonus. If no fluency in these coding languages, an aptitude for rapid familiarization with unfamiliar coding languages is required.
Solid statistics background, with an aptitude and interest in expanding this capability.
Either a fracture mechanics background or a willingness / interest to develop in this area.
At least basic knowledge of fuel channel design & function. Knowledge, or at least interest, in principles of CANDU major component integrity
A strong team player, happy to learn from and collaborate with industry subject matter experts.
A self-starter driven to tackle challenging problems on their own without continual oversight / guidance. Instinct to attempt to solve problems or understand underlying principles on their own before approaching industry experts for guidance.
Comfortable adjusting work priorities to reflect industry demands related to Fuel Channel integrity (a life-limiting component subject to high levels of client & regulatory scrutiny and changing landscape).
Must be able to work in a project driven environment with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints (time, cost, quality).
Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements.
Must be motivated by working with engineering professionals committed to producing timely and high-quality technical work.
A period of at least 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
