Role Summary

The Systems & Integrations Engineer, HR Systems supports and administers our Human Resources cloud based, third party vendor systems as well as multiple in-house built systems & solutions and will serve as technical system owner for some of those systems.

The role will also be responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of integrations to various systems via Magna’s HR data hub.

As a subject matter expert for HR related data flows the systems engineer will also act as liaison between various stakeholders and consumers of HR data throughout the organization.

There is the possibility to also exercise these activities in our office in Brampton, Ontario (CAN) by arrangement and subject to availability of internal resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical system ownership and production system operations, ensuring continuous improvement in system stability and performance.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose, take corrective action and resolve application system and integrations incidents and problems.
  • Support production deployments, break-fixes, patches, and releases.
  • Design and build integrations between various internal and external systems using a variety of integrations technologies.
  • Perform & oversee development and testing for major and minor enhancements.
  • Handle service request and fulfill business and product support requests.
  • Document, communicate and escalate technical issues to upstream and downstream application support teams, manage to resolution and articulate business impact.
  • Business partnering - work closely with business and functional leaders to define people processes and data flows, collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, design and implement solutions, conduct testing, and ensure successful release and user adoption.
  • Reporting and analysis support and build reports and dashboards based on functional requirements, help develop complex datasets for HR teams to power their work.
  • Knowledge & Education

  • Completion of University Degree.
  • Work Experience

  • 3 to 5 Years of Work Related Experience.
  • Key Qualifications / Requirements

  • Proficiency in ETL & EAI concepts and its implementation (Talend, SSIS preferred).
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience in developing reporting or dashboard solutions with BI tools (Microsoft stack preferred).
  • Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical skills (quick comprehension, abstract thinking, recognize relationships).
  • Ability to be a strong team member, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee information and a functional understanding of core HR business terminology and practices.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and act in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with Workday Studio, APIs, EIBs, Core Connectors, PECI, and Cloud Connectors are beneficial.
  • Exposure to HR related Systems (Workday, SAP HCM, ..) would be beneficial.
  • Excellent English in spoken and written.
