  • The opportunity :

    Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal, the Legal Assistant will provide value-add capacity to the Legal Department as it grows to ensure the ability to manage reliable contract management and corporate records, and assist with the preparation of routine legal documents, administrative co-ordination, and maintenance of standing virtual data-rooms and documents.

    This is a new position, and it is anticipated that the expectations and outcomes of this role could evolve over time, particularly as the pace and deal flow of mergers and acquisitions ebb and flow in the ordinary course.

    Key responsibilities include :

  • Assisting in the management of internal contract database to ensure it remains current.
  • Assisting with maintenance of corporate filings & minute books.
  • Assisting in co-ordination of mergers & acquisitions, closing documents and associated paperwork.
  • Preparation of routine legal documents.
  • Performing general administrative duties to support the Legal Department.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • The ideal candidate will possess :

  • Legal Assistant program experience, or equivalent / similar professional training.
  • Prior work experience as a legal assistant is a strong asset.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of corporate law fundamentals, corporate searches and minute book maintenance.
  • An ability to work with people, and effectively drive orderly outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated sound professional judgment.
  • Conditions of employment :

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
