Purpose :

The Manager, Domestic Student Recruitment plays a leadership role in attracting qualified and motivated prospective students across Canada to pursue their post-secondary goals.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Student Recruitment, the Manager is accountable for leading the implementation of the Canadian student recruitment strategy with the objective to grow York University's market share in a competitive marketplace.

The Manager coordinates and implements recruitment strategies for various prospective student audiences including Ontario high schools, national, graduate, transfer and mature students.

Additionally, this role develops relationships and coordinates with faculty partners to deliver effective recruitment and conversion events and activities while identifying opportunities where faculty partners can enhance their profiles in market.

Fostering strong relationships with off-campus partners such as guidance counsellors, teachers, members of school boards and the broader collective recruitment community is essential to promoting York University to an external audience and to enhancing York's overall reputation.

Working closely with partners across campus, the Manager, Canadian Student Recruitment seeks continuous improvements and remains abreast of best practices to meet the University's enrolment goals.

Education :

University degree in communications, liberal arts or business preferred.

Experience :

3-4 years' recent related experience working in student recruitment including the coordination and implementation of recruitment strategies, preferably in a university environment.

Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations, event planning and leading teams.

Skills : Knowledge


  • Knowledgeable on existing student trends and outreach strategies, preferably in a university context.
  • Understanding of strategic enrollment management (SEM) and best practices.
  • Awareness of the various stakeholder and influencer groups in university choice.

    Proven record of successful implementation of plans / strategies to timelines and meeting objectives and deadlines. Demonstrated ability to coordinate conflicting events / projects simultaneously.

    Strong organization and project management skills. Experience working with data to identify trends and patterns to create reports.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent oral presentation skills and the ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences of various sizes.

    Effective relationship building skills with various stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, ability to influence, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

    Creativity, problem solving and initiative. Experience working with a Student Information System (SIS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.

    Knowledge of Ontario University admissions criteria. Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Working knowledge MS Suite (e.

    g. - Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Willingness to travel across Canada.

    Additional Notes :

    Workspace is an open / office environment. Flexibility to attend and manage events outside of normal working hours. Attends meetings at different locations across the campus and may be required to walk.

    Domestic travel to support recruitment primarily within Ontario May carry equipment for setup and delivery of recruitment events

  • Compensation :
  • York implemented a revised CPM Compensation Framework in 2019. The Framework is a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

    Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
