Position Description Summary
This specific Senior Customs Rater role will primarily be responsible for performing quality control and auditing prior to submitting entries to Customs for accounting.
The person in this role must also ensure client satisfaction through consistent customer service. The Senior Customs Rater will exercise judgment and a detailed knowledge of company procedures and customs regulations.
The Customs Rater must also be committed to exceeding client expectations while respecting company policies.
Principal Accountabilities
Maintains client information database, updates complex information as necessary
Provides training and support to team members
Provides accurate information and assistance to customers requiring information
Managing workload by performing quality control / auditing of all required daily transactions
Reviews customs entry documents, invoices, manifests and other supporting documents for conformity to customs and corporate regulations
Provides guidance to the team members to obtain customs paperwork, example FTA, commercial invoices by calling vendor / client when requested
Verifies documentation for customs compliance
Maintains client database, updates information as necessary
Provides exceptional customer service
Ability to process B3 entries to meet Company and Canada Customs compliance standards
Ability to correct Canada Customs rejected entries
Forwards any business leads to potential departments
Assists supervisor in running daily operations
Other duties as required
Kwalificaties
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum a College Diploma ideally in Customs and / or International Trade
Previous office experience in an intermediate or senior role for 5-7 years.
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, communicates ideas clearly and concisely : provides feedback, recognition and support
Experience in a busy customer focused environment,
Able to deal with changing priorities
Basic knowledge of customs operations preferred
Written and verbal Communication skills
Able to work in a team environment
Completion of CCS or post-secondary coursework in International Trade or similar industry
Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements
Must have an above average working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Ability to learn and use other applications
