Role Summary

The Tank Maintenance Technician reports to the Plating Supervisor and is responsible for performing treatments on all plating tanks and wastewater equipment.

He / she is to ensure that all work is performed in a safe and consistent manner as per Polybrite’s Environmental Policy.

This position is a Continental Shift Backup position, working 12 hours per day, three days on, three days off, year round.

This position will rotate irregularly between Continental Night shifts (7pm to 7am) and Continental Day shifts (7am to 7pm) as required, and regular weekend work is to be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trained to meet all aspects of job description in Waste Water and Tank Maintenance.
  • Act as backup to Waste Water and Tank Maintenance for vacation / absenteeism / workload.
  • Make chemical additions.
  • Do temperature checks.
  • Clean plating tanks.
  • Perform treatments on plating solutions.
  • Perform general maintenance on filters and tanks.
  • Must be able to run all plating hoists.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping within Polybrite.
  • Lead weekend maintenance.
  • Assist in crane / hoist PMs.
  • Maintain basic equipment related to their job.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with the legal and waste management requirements.
  • Assess water pollutants by collecting and analyzing water samples from waste stream.
  • Responsible for proper storage, handling, and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment.
  • Comply with all Polybrite Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Polybrite IATF 16949 policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Polybrite ISO14001 policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other reasonable request by management.
  • Key Qualifications / Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent with a background in chemistry (preferred).
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience, experience working with chemicals preferred.
  • Basic electroplating experience preferred.
  • Waste water education / experience preferred.
  • Spill Response, TDG, Safe Chemical Handling training
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and Lotus Notes, Trans4M software.
  • Forklift License required
  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 25 kg’s.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • First Aid training preferred.
  • Must be able to pass pulmonary testing.
  • Must be available to work Continental Backup Shift, working 12 hours per day, three days on, three days off, year round.
