Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of the enterprise risk framework for North America Enterprise Risk Management.
The risks defined are : underwriting (insurance) risk, market risk, credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk, strategic risk, emerging risk and reputation risk
Manages the risk management framework through communication, training and making recommendations for operational improvement
Responsible for production of quarterly risk reports and provides continuous improvements
Prepares quarterly economic solvency results for dissemination to home office
Participates in the annual production of the ORSA summary report for the North American Life entities
Participates at periodically scheduled meetings with various departments to monitor key risks in the company
Marketing and Business Development
Supports large / complex transactions and new product development from a Risk Management perspective
Provides Insurance Economic Risk Capital, Pandemic and / or Credit risk measures to Pricing as required
ERC Model Development and Internal Communication
Supports ongoing development of the Internal Economic Risk Capital calculation engine
Develops and maintains model calibration methodology for use in the Economic Risk Capital model
Participates in presentations to various departments on ERC topics
University Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics. Master’s degree preferred.
FSA or near-FSA
3-5 years of experience in the Life and Health reinsurance / insurance industry, with related technical experience.
Understanding of the Canadian and US (re)insurance market.
Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
Keen strategic thinking, business acumen and problem solving skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels of the organization. Experienced presenter before groups and effectively manages question and answer sessions.

Ability to make technical decisions related to risk management (e.g. modeling decisions, methodology decision and data decisions).
Ability to make operational decisions related to risk management (e.g. priority of work, process design).
Strong ability to learn and execute modelling and model design using software / application knowledge including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AXIS and MATLAB, VBA
