Lumber mill has an immediate opening for the Mill Manager role. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position reporting to the Vice President of the Western Lumber Region.
The lumber mill site is located 12 km South of the city of Grande Prairie. Grande Prairie boasts a population of over 65,000 in the city proper and 90,000 in the city and county.
It is 460 km North West of Edmonton and connected by a 4-lane highway. The air traveler is served by the Regional Airport which is serviced by both West Jet and Air Canada.
Grande Prairie is the regional center for Northwestern Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia servicing a population of over 300,000 people.
Grande Prairie is a young and active city with opportunities to experience a mix of urban, rural and wilderness recreations.
The strategically located mill is currently undergoing a significant modernization project that will enable more efficient processing of smaller-diameter saw logs allowing us to reliably meet customer demand.
This is a non-union operation with approximately 210 highly engaged employees.
The Mill Manager is responsible for the safe and reliable manufacturing and on-time / in-full delivery of products to customers and ensures that business objectives are met for the site.
Other critical responsibilities include fostering an engaged, people focused culture, controlling product cost and inventory, and developing future leaders.

Ensures that business and individual goal setting processes such as capital plans, expense budgets, safety strategic plans and performance management plans are developed and executed with excellence.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with proven record of positive accomplishments in safety, quality, productivity, cost and people development

ensure successful teaming / networking within the region, the Wood Products business and the company as needed

Desired Skills and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in business, technical (engineering or other) or forestry / wood products discipline
Manufacturing experience in Wood Products
Non-Unionized labour background and experience
Working knowledge of Lean, Innovation and continuous improvement tools and processes
