Who you areThe Financial Analyst role is an integral part of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team accountable for Real Estate financials.

The team is accountable for performing profit and loss (P&L) and capital annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, monthly reporting and variance analysis from budget, prior year and forecasts with a focus on providing meaningful / actionable insights.

As part of a continuous improvement process, the team evolves existing / develops new models and processes that improve forecasting accuracy.

The team also provides analytical support for the development of store network and facilities across CTC banners (Canadian Tire Retail, Sport Chek, Mark’s, Pro Hockey Life, Petroleum).

This role is focused on the budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis of the Real Estate P&L statement. The role plays an important part in business partnering and building relationships with the Real Estate Development, Construction and Operational teams, the broader Finance function and other stakeholders.What you'll do

  • Prepare and present insightful variance analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and 5 year outlook and executive reporting binders
  • Liaise with Real Estate team, Accounting and other FP&A / finance teams on a regular basis
  • Identify efficiencies and streamline planning and reporting processes
  • Ad-hoc analysis and special projects as assignedWhat you bring
  • University Degree in Accounting / Finance
  • Professional Accounting designation / MBA or working towards one (CPA- CMA, CA, CGA)
  • Experience in a FP&A or related role, preferably in a corporate or retail environment
  • Results oriented with strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Critical thinking skills with desire and ability to challenge the status quo
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and perform under tight deadlines with willingness to work extended hours when the business requires
  • Proven ability to retrieve information from multiple sources and work with large amounts of data
  • Expert working knowledge of Excel and advance working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and access
